Hello, this is a short biography about Iryna Artus. She is a Ukrainian artist, currently lives in the USA. She was born and raised in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, where she also got her education. After finishing high school, she completed High Artist College. Then, she graduated from the Precarpathian University of Vasyl Stephanyk, an Institute of Art. There she received a Master's Degree in Fine art. While she was studying, her passion was painting, and dedicated most of her study to it. That is why she has chosen painting as her specialty. At the end of her study at the University, beyond painting, she developed an interest in the culture of paper cutting. Having acquired a solid base of knowledge of different techniques, colors, and compositions, she started practicing paper cutting art herself.
As with her oil paintings, plants and nature still life motifs have become the main themes of her paper cutting art. She is inspired by the beauty of nature, particularly the plasticity of leaves and stems of flowers, the combination of herbs, and distinct forms of stones. Her interest in these elements, she believes, was born from her experience tending to the beautiful garden adjacent to her house in the city. This allowed me to always have the opportunity to be inspired by the beauty of nature, without having to leave my house.
She also loves the art of photography, which has really helped her in creating my artworks. It is not only a form of therapy, but an opportunity to preserve memories that inspire her paper cuts and oil paintings. She finds the process of material preparation, researching compositions, and sketching the most satisfactory aspects of the art making process. On some occasions, she searches for her inspiration in her own photography shots. Other times, she directly paints from nature, simply by sitting in her garden.
If you are also in love with nature, its silhouettes, and the plastic-looking aspects of nature, Iryna invites you to follow up on her page and activity.
